Attorney Ben Pogue joined the Milligan Law Firm in 2009, where he has tried numerous cases to verdict and has enjoyed working with Tom Milligan — one of the most experienced trial attorneys in South Carolina.

Ben handles cases involving personal injury, admiralty, defamation and contract disputes in state and federal courts. In 2011, Ben delivered a successful verdict as lead counsel for Santee Cooper — South Carolina’s largest energy producer. In July 2010, Ben secured a dismissal of a maritime defamation claim in the U.S. District Court decision Gossett v. McMurtry, 764 F.Supp.2d 782 (D.S.C. 2010).

Before entering legal practice, Ben served as a morning television anchor, reporter and meteorologist at News 14 Carolina in Charlotte, N.C. and WCBD-TV News 2 in Mount Pleasant. Ben’s program at News 2 was ranked as the top-rated morning show in the Lowcountry. Ben retired from his meteorology career in 2005 to run a Red Cross Shelter in Texas following Hurricane Katrina. Drawing upon his extensive knowledge and substantial experience, Ben often acts as a meteorological expert in personal injury litigation cases.

Ben is married to former Charleston news anchor Nina Sossamon-Pogue, now a vice president with Benefitfocus — a health insurance benefits software company serving more than 14 million consumers and 300,000 employers. They are parents of three wonderful teenagers. Ben volunteers as a coach for his children’s athletic teams and is active in several community organizations.
